Tony's Explorations

Not just a cruise :
more an exploration and experience.

The aims of Tony’s explorations are:

  • to enable small groups of people to discover the South Devon Coastline and River Dart Estuary at a leisurely pace, pausing to look close in to the stunning scenery and wildlife.

  • to enable photographers and those with a keen interest in wildlife to get in really close for the best possible photographic and viewing opportunities.

  • to get in amongst and explore the spectacular South Devon coastline between Berry Head to the east and Start Point to the west.

  • to explore less accessible and hidden tranquil areas of the Dart Estuary.

  • to have a relaxing, fun and informative time in small groups with personal attention.

  • Join the ‘Seafaris’ and see the parts that others don’t see!

The Skipper

Helped by Tony's in-depth experience as a professional educator, his enthusiasm for the area shows in his ability to communicate in a lively personal manner (no microphones, taped commentaries or loudspeakers). Click here to see more information about Falcon II and its skipper.

Departure points

Groups will normally board Falcon II at either the embankment at Dartmouth or from the pontoon adjacent to Darthaven Marina, Kingswear (accessible from the Torbay area). These locations can be seen on the attached map. Groups may also be collected from and returned to Totnes or Dittisham.

Falcon II provides private charters for small groups of 2-12 persons with a flexible itinerary suggested by Tony to suit your interests.

Falcon II may be booked for whole day, half day, 2 hour and evening charters.

We stop frequently so that I can show features and wildlife and add stories and information. I do my best to share my appreciation of this very special area.

I’ll even do early morning charters with breakfast included : a brilliant time to view wildlife.

Select from the River and Estuary, and Coastline options above to see how we get closer than almost anyone to the scenery and wildlife.

    • Family price available.
  • Evenings £16 - £25, as advertised or by arrangement.

  • Provision of buffet picnics on request.

  • Group Bookings (by prior arrangement, with deposit):

    • A group charge of £50 per hour (minimum 2 hours, and based on 8 passengers). The variable will be how far we go. If you wish to book for the whole day (7-8 hours), the group charge is approximately £300-350.

Contingencies and Weather

Falcon II is able to operate in the estuary in most conditions but in extremes the charter will be curtailed and money refunded / or an alternative date found. Coastal explorations are more likely to be curtailed by poor weather but can usually be supplemented with estuary explorations. Trips to the upper part of the Dart will depend on the state of the tide.
